What about Hot Chocolate then - must be at least a ton of sugar in one of those.

But it does amuse me when i hear people order a skinny drink and then ask for one of the syrups to be added.

I have had chai latte a couple of times and didn't realise it had 20 tea spoons of sugar - not a marshmallow in sight.

What you didn't notice the fact that the spoon was still standing up.

If I had one of those now I'd be so wired I wouldn't sleep for three days.

Tell me, please, how many spoonsful of sugar an Americano with skimmed milk on the side has.

There's no helping some, is there? I might have one by accident, but I can't see myself doing it twice.

Would that be a Grande, Venti or Trenta Americano?

The smallest size that comes in a china cup and not a wobbly stinking polystyrene container.

Some of these drinks have 90g of sugar, that's 3.2oz. or most of a bag of sweets I would buy as a child.

While you would assume they would have some sugar in them, this is ridiculous, 15-25 spoons of the stuff, can you imagine standing there continually scooping it in?

A Starbucks spokeswoman said the chain had "committed to reduce added sugar" by 25% by the end of 2020 in its "indulgent drinks".

4 years and a 25% reduction?! I used to have 2 sugars in tea, I decided I could do without it and managed a 100% reduction in 2 months.

What is a chai latte? With or without syrup. It sounds as though it should be in a Thai restaurant.

I'll go with the small Americano with cold milk.

    Can't I interest you in a café-brûlot instead?

Apparently these coffees are hot too, but that news will not be released yet to lessen the shock following the sugar revelation.

I am guilty of having syrup in my coffee. But I only go for the sugar-free version (which I know, isn't completely sugar free). I will cut down though, I promise. I just have to get used to having decaf first. I don't want to deny myself completely!
