It should do, although as Geography also counts for the Bacc it may boost that subject more. Rightly or wrongly, Geography is widely perceived as an easier GCSE.
  2. Rightly! Have you seen the Geography papers? But we already seem to be more popular at our place with the management...it won't last though ;)

I certainly hope it will make the job market a bit rosier; I'm doing my PGCE at the moment and the situation is pretty scary. I chose geography over history at GCSE and didn't find it particularly easy, but I had switched off by then knowing I should have chosen history!
Hopefully the EBacc will go some way towards persuading heads that they need specialist teachers to get better results ...

Re Geography. I was trying to be diplomatic. Even the Geography teachers I know concede that it is easier than History, at both GCSE and A-Level. History used to get 'respect' from our old Head of Physics who regarded it as the only Humanity on a par with his own subject in terms of difficulty!
