Holiday pay confusion / argument!

Discussion in 'Pay and conditions' started by Kitkat47, Nov 16, 2011.

  1. Just wondering if anybody can help settle an argument between me and a family member. My sister thinks teachers get 13 weeks PAID holiday (as in we are paid for every single day of the year - 365). I admit I am quite clueless about my pay and happily spend it each month as long as it is there, but I am of the opinion we are paid for 195 days or 1265 hours, and this is then organised into a pro rata monthly wage exactly the same 12 times a year. What I really want to know how many days are we actually PAID FOR - 195 or 365 or something in between that takes into account some holiday pay. Bit of a strange question, but thanks for any info.
