Holiday in term time

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by goonie, Jun 6, 2011.

  1. My sister is getting married next year in South America the week before the easter holidays. I need to write to the governers to apply for the time off but not sure how to start. Has anyone requested time off and have a letter I could look at.

I have read various forums but they dont tend to help just discuss whether it should/shoudnt happen.
Would really appeciate a starting point with how to go about this.

Find out the name of the chair of govs. Address the letter to them.

Start with something like 'I am writing to request XXX days unpaid leave on XXXXXX 2012. This is to attend the wedding of a dear sister in South America. Blah Blah Blah.

Not too much waffle. The HT will have already spoken to them and the decision will already have been made. The letter is just a formality and can be read out at a meeting to look like all governors are involved in the decision.
