I've heard a rumour that there are so many schools getting RI in their inspections that the HMI are too stretched and therefore not visiting. Is this true?

Not sure about now but we got RI two years ago and had an HMI within six week. He came twice after that for less than 3 hours (because then he did not have to write up a report). He also phoned the head once. He did one tour of the school on his first visit then spent the rest of the time with SLT in the head's office.

I know of other schools where their HMI observed lessons and did work scrutiny.

    Different HMIs, different experiences.

Had not heard that they were overstretched though.
