HMI monitoring

Discussion in 'Ofsted inspections' started by julieB54, Nov 11, 2012.

  1. We were a pilot school for the current system a year ago last June. We were deemed satisfactory (therefore requiring improvement). We have just had a full inspection and this was the first time we had seen anybody since.

That's probably because leadership and management were deemed to be good at the last inspection. If that is the case then they don't carry out the monitoring visits, they just reinspect within two years.

  3. Yes, the inspector will definitely observe teaching. The first area for improvement will have been something to do with teaching, so the only way s/he can check on progress is by observing teaching.

  4. We were inspected at the start of the new term and the monitoring visit was carried out 6-7 weeks later, with couple of days notice. The inspector observed a couple of lessons, not for long though and no feedback was given. HTH and good luck :)
