As the title suggests, I teach a year 5 class of 26 children, 3 of them are working at a y1/y2 level. Has anyone else managed this successfully? They are non-readers, so I am finding it very difficult in planning what they could be doing while I teach the others. In years 3 and 4, the class TA focused predominantly on this small group. Would you continue this system in Year 5, as I am struggling for independent activities that are meaningful for them. Also not sure how to incorporate them in topic work as without them being able to read there isnt much they can do independently. Any suggestions would be greatly received.
