HELP! Science focus isn't a science focus! Planning ideas?!?!?!? KS2

Discussion in 'Primary' started by cyfoster, Feb 14, 2012.

1. Hi,
I have started a new school and their cross curriculur package is a bit vague! The science focus is under the topic of 'Myths and Legends'. This is what the planning brief consists of.....
'Explore how big Questions about the world around us were answered in the past - flat earth, moon cheese, humans popping/explooding in space' AT1 - not a science focus
Shall be combining with ICT research but how can I get the kids to brainstorm such questions themselves without going off on a tangent?

How about a spot of myth busting? Check out the telly programme, and see if you could do something similar (but without the explosions!)? How about getting the children to suggest their own myths that they would like to bust? ( that jelly dissolves faster in hot water - or not? That bubbles last longer, the more soapy the solution? That a light thing will fall to the ground slower than a heavy thing? Helps?
