Help! Poetry - Year 7

Discussion in 'English' started by 00nh10, Feb 6, 2011.

  1. Can anyone recommend a poem to use as a year 7 assessment which includes a wide range of poetic techniques?
I have taught them about simile, metaphor, onomatopoeia, personification and alliteration.
What I need is a good poem which is not too long that includes examples of all of these. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

'Highwayman'? It is very accessible and has most of the features you mention.
