Help - I'm looking for some lyrics to a Christmas song

Discussion in 'Primary' started by sophiemavin, Dec 2, 2011.

  1. Hi all. I'm a school librarian and one of the primary teachers has asked me to see if I can track down the lyrics to the "Christmas Echo Song" and she believes the first line starts "Winter Winds Blow." Can anyone out there please help A.S.A.P.
    Thank you so much,
    Sophie

Any clues at all as to where the song comes from? Is it one written for schools (radio programme), children (A&C Black or Out of the Ark books for example), a schools musical or a 'pop' song?
I've looked through my music books and can't see anything of that title or with that first line - sorry.

They're not thinking of Do you hear what I hear are they? It has the line - Said the night wind to the little lamb
This also has an echo in it - Do you hear what I hear, Do you hear what I hear? etc
I have the music to this and the words are available online too.

  4. Unfortunately I have no idea. The only info I have is what I posted earlier! Thanks for looking [IMG]

  5. No, I wouldn't have thought so. I know this teacher very well and I would imagine she has the first line right. I will see if she can give me some more info though.

    Our posts crossed!
I've made a suggestion - it might be worth asking if Do you Hear? is the song.

I agree with marlin sounds very like the Do you hear what I hear carol which starts Said the night wind to the little lamb
DO YOU HEAR WHAT I HEAR?
Said the night wind to the little lamb
Do you see what I see? (echo)
‘Way up in the sky, little lamb
Do you see what I see?
A star, a star dancing in the night
With a tail as big as a kite
With a tail as big as a kite
Said the little lamb to the shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear? (echo)
Ringing thru the sky, shepherd boy
Do you hear what I hear? (echo)
A song, a song, high above the tree
With a voice as big as the sea
With a voice as big as the sea
Said the shepherd boy to the mighty king
Do you know what I know? (echo)
In your palace warm, mighty king
Do you know what I know? (echo)
A Child, a Child shivers in the cold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Let us bring Him silver and gold
Said the king to the people ev’rywhere
Listen to what I say! (echo)
    Pray for peace, people ev’rywhere
Listen to what I say! (echo)
The Child, the Child sleeping in the night
He will bring us goodness and light
He will bring us goodness and light found at http://survivors.la/caroling-songbooks.pdf but no music.

  9. Thanks Lara, but just double-checked with another teacher and it transpires that it may actually be a song that our music teacher wrote!!!!!! Thank goodness it's nearly the end of term [IMG]
    Ho ho ho, Merry Christmas

I'm probably way too late with this... But the song is in Christmas Tinderbox -pages 54 and 55 - and goes like this:

Winter winds blow ( echo each line)
    Bringing the snow
    Christmas tree lights
    Shine in the night
    Crackers go bang
    Stockings to hang
    Santa is due
    Presents for you

    The obstinato part is:

    Pies with spice in
    Cakes need icing
    Carol singers
    Church bell ringers
    Sprigs of holly
    Santa's jolly
    Red nosed reindeer
    Christmas time is here.
