Hello all, I need help please!! How are you teaching maths in reception?

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by hyssop_puppy, Jan 29, 2012.

  1. I take the objectives from the development matters and then make up some activities that correspond to the children's interests to teach them.
I highlight the DM to ensure coverage. There is no particular order but I have found that children are not ready for certain concepts until after Christmas but generally I just go with them.

Same as lilyput. I'm beginning to introduce recorded addition and subtraction as some are now ready for it
  3. Thank you all for your responses.
I plan in the same way but as its such an open way to plan I can sometimes run out of exciting ideas. I have a daily PSRN carpet session for 10mins and then a 20mins follow up. 2 adult led groups and 3 independent.
