Has anyone else had experience with Bath Theatre Royal telling them that school group tickets can only be purchased on a specific date when the box of

  1. I had organised a complete day out for students in Reading to travel to Bath incorporating a trip to the Roman Baths and a performance of An Inspector Calls but Theatre Royal would not allow booking before 10:00 this morning Friday, 3rd July. I rang from 9:55 until 10:02 just to be told that all of the tickets were sold but they could offer us £25 tickets instead of £8.50! We are a state girls' school with impoverished pupils but the parents still rallied to send the money for the lower priced tickets (we were told the tickets had to be paid for at the time of booking). It is a great disappointment never mind all of the time taken to organize and collect the money. It seems very odd.

That does seem quite odd. One can only 'assume' that they have actually taken some kind of prior booking from it's local schools over others?. and indeed, extremely unrealistic to expect students to pay three times the price!
