Has anyone been to Valencia?

We're wondering about Valencia as a holiday destination for us and our teenage son, in the summer holidays. Will there be enough to do? Is it nice? We'd be flying so we'd only be able to get to other places on public transport. We don't go for beach holidays but being by the sea for a city holiday is nice. Any thoughts? Or better suggestions for a good holiday place in Spain that's not high rises and bars? We've been to Barcelona or that would have been the obvious choice.

Valencia is very pleasant, but have you also considered Malaga?

We went for a family holiday in August this year. Really nice place with plenty to do. It is friendly with a good bustling holiday buzz whilst avoiding the stack-em high naffness of so many resorts.

Public transport is really good (we mostly used buses), so there is no necessity to stay on the beach or city centre. Easy jet fly there and it is a15 minute ride from the airport.
