  1. 'Making Lemonade' by Virginia Euwer Wolff?
I thought it was brilliant and just wondered what anybody else who had read it thought [IMG]

  3. Ok...it's written so it looks like a poem, but it's not, it's a prose story. It focuses on two girls...one 14, the other 17. The younger girl has a pushy mum who wants her to do well in school, move onwards and upwards etc; the 17 year old has no parents to help her and has two young children to care for on her own. The 14 year old becomes the 17 year old's babysitter, and the story really revolves around that.
I liked it because it was unexpected: the relationship between the two young girls, also the mother and the 14 year old, is very credible; and it doesn't have a happy ever after ending.
It's called 'Make Lemonade' by the way...and the title comes in right at the end.
