    Starts on Tuesday. Hooray!

I love the way that series led by strong female characters are becoming unexceptional these days. Happy Valley, Scott & Bailey, The Fall, Top Of The Lake etc. Brilliant!

I am SO looking forward to it too. Who'd have thought that Rakel (sp?) from Corrie would make such a brilliant Police Officer? ;)

    That was utter *****.

She's such a sympathetic character. But then she was in Corrie as well.

She's fantastic in everything she does. But then, I would say that, wouldn't I?

I can barely wait for it to begin on Tuesday. Take a look at the cast list - it's attracted even more excellent actors.

Oooh, Hayley's in it! Hmm, I wonder what sort of character she'll be...

I shall have to wait until I get back. Damn!

To think she played Raquel. She can do anything. Anything! I love her.

Me too! For those who've never seen her sing:

She's one of those actresses where you think, "Is she beautiful? Is it her bone structure? Eyes? Or is it that she acts beautiful? Has charm. She makes you think she is beautiful?"

If you hadn't seen her act. If you'd just seen a picture. Would you think she was beautiful? Or ......

    I'm rambling. I know what I mean.

She's flippin' gorgeous in 'Last Tango', but Catherine - her character in 'Happy Valley' - is made to look very 'weathered', I think. It's a measure of the calibre of SL as an actor that she can look so different in two pieces made within a similar time frame.

    Oh, yes.

I love that she also does worn and weighed-down. One of the marks of a great actress, I think. She can also do ordinary and plain.

Missed HV 1. Heard really good things about it. Would it be possible to pick up the thread in Series 2 ?

Probably - but try to see HV1, because it's one of the most powerful pieces of TV drama (and acting, by Sarah Lancashire) that I've ever seen.

A quick search shows that series one is less than £10.00. I would get it before seeing season 2.

    £7.00 on Tesco and Amazon.

Her recent characters are what make her beautiful.

I've still got Top of the Lake recorded - I'm in two minds whether to bother to watch now!

As you say, these things are very individual. But I thought it was beautiful to look at and it developed a great sense of mystery. Elisabeth Moss was very fine.
