This made me smile and I owned an A50 and Morris Minor both were excellent in their day:
More smiles and happy days.
More smiles and empty motorways.
Whereas Hillman Minxes all went bang (the very big end bearing problem BMC seems to have managed to avoid) when taken on the motorways when they finally opened in the UK.
My father's A40 Somerset would have been incapable of doing this test - top speed was only 50 or so.
Shame that 25 years later the company (by then BL) was close to collapse.
Indeed. I did my Teacher training with a couple of guys who left BL in 1981. They were sickened by the cost cutting that they were forced to carry out with no regard what so ever for quality. Bean counters and very poor management
I always like the appearance of the Minx yet it did suffer lower end problems. Also in those days engines needed a decoke at 30,000 miles.
