Handwriting schemes - The honest truth!

I am looking into adopting a whole school handwriting scheme. We are a new school, and in all of our separate experience we have not come across anything that has revolutionised handwriting.

The research seems to suggest that it is best to adopt cursive as it can support dyslexic students and reading in children, however we do not want to traumatise those who find holding a pencil in KS1 a huge challenge in itself!

Does anyone have hands on experience of a really good scheme which has supported children in improving their presentation and their stamina for writing? It would be great to hear some real feedback from teachers, as all the sales pitches are deceptively (or perhaps not) impressive.

    Thanks!

Personal feelings are that children should learn a semi cursive style before moving onto fully cursive.
I've tried fully cursive from the start in reception but found it unsatisfactory.
