Gun incident on Capitol Hill

    This, and other similar incidences, can be used by both the pro and anti gun parties to justify their views.

    The "pro"s will argue that they need to carry weapons for their own protection because there are lots of bad guys out there who are armed. They could also claim that if more "good and upright" citizens were tooled up they would be able to stop the bad guy from criminal activity quicker then waiting for the Police to arrive. Sort of like everyone is a Policeman philosophy.

    Meanwhile the "anti"s will claim if there were fewer weapons about there would be a reduced chance of them falling into the wrong hands and the risks would be lower. They would also argue (and correctly in my view) that there would be less chance of some untrained numpty causing an accident with a negligent discharge if said numpty wasn't allowed a gun in the first place.
