GTP schools

Discussion in 'Trainee and student teachers' started by ladyc23, Feb 7, 2011.

  1. Hi everyone,
I'm currently working as a TA in a primary school, and I'm interested in doing teacher training.
My question is, can any school provide a GTP place, and if so, how do they go about this?
    Thanks

It does depend on how it operates in your area. You need to check with the GTP ITT providers- details on the TDA website. Generally the school agrees to employ you as a teacher for the duration of the GTP. The application is made for a salary grant to the ITT provider who selects the candidates. Obviously idf they have done the GTP before then they are familiar with the procedures and are aware of the requirements. In some places schools have to be vetted by the ITT provider first.
Primary places are very limited and highly competitive. The ITT providers can confirm how many places are available and which schools have participated before.
