    Hi all,

Apologies if you have seen this in the Scotland Primary forum.

I am in the process of registering with the GTCS. I currently teach in England but I'm keen to apply for Depute Head positions in Scotland. I realise GTCS registration is necessary (I am eligible - PGCE and seven years teaching experience) but would the fact I am not yet (but in the process of) being registered see me out of the running when it comes to job applications?

    Many thanks.

Depends on the authority and/or the head. I've applied for jobs in the past prior to registering and got interviews, but I also know my school has had its fingers burnt in the past by candidates who claim they're eligible for registration, are appointed, and then can't start work because it turns out they're not eligible at all. Either call the school beforehand or put the application in and see what happens.

Thanks for your reply and help - I have seen a couple of adverts with the caveat "or eligible for GTCS registration..." I have hope!
