An education centre in Ayr, are seeking a GTCS registered maths teacher or probationer to teach secondary mathematics to small groups (2-4 pupils at a time). Experience of teaching higher maths would be advantageous but a willingness to gain experience at this level alongside experienced teachers would also be considered.

Sessions are mainly week day evenings and last 1 hr 20 mins and the level of commitment is up to you - some teachers do 1 session a night for most of the week, some do 3 sessions on one week night. There is NO need or expectation for additional work to be done at home, outside the centre. Planning can be done in about ten minutes after a session. Senior students tend to plan their own structure as to what they want to focus on so ability to think on your feet is good, and must be comfortable with the subject.

centre is fully resourced with texts (including the newer ones) from all the common publishers that are used in schools, but also a variety of other sources that teachers can use as they see fit. Each student has dedicated use of their own PC throughout their session if required.

This is an informal relaxed atmosphere that is highly rewarding, as you get to really teach with minimal paperwork and admin. You have the time to really develop a rapport with your students, find out what makes them tick and create a way of learning that works for them. Good way to gain experience without the stress of discipline, if you are a probationer or struggling to make ends meet on the supply list.
