growing turnips... please help

Discussion in 'Early Years' started by missh27, Mar 2, 2012.

  1. our topic this half term is growth and our oral story is the enormous turnip
so next week I want to plant turnips, but I've never planted anything in my life! so i need some advice.
can i plant them in plastic cups to grow in the classroom first?
How long should i do this for?
How often will they need watering?
How many seeds should I put in the cup?
do i need to line the cup with a paper towel?
Is there anything else i need to know?

thanks for anyone who can help

I'd go onto google and look for companies selling turnip seeds. They'll have all the information you'll need. Small turnips are more popular now - it might be fun to grow a couple of big old Utility-style turnips as well if you can get them!
