Grouping children by ability NQT

Discussion in 'Assessment' started by anon4038, Aug 11, 2011.

  1. I start my NQT year in september with year 1/2.
I have been asked to group my children by ability, however many of the year 1's are much higher ability than the 2's.
I have used the assessment data to 'rank' the children by ability (as horrible as it sounds, i do intend to take a much more personalised approach once in the classroom but this is how ive been asked to do it).
The problem that ive got is that im getting confused as to where to put the year 1's as their assessment data is based on the early years scales, I can rank the year 2's by 1c, 1b, 1a, 2c etc, but im struggling to fit the year 1's into this.
    Any advice much appreciated [IMG]
