    Hi everyone,
Just a quick query. Are minutes from Governors' meetings open to staff or parents to view? Is there a blanket procedure or is it down to the discretion of the individual school? I have looked online but I cannot see anything concrete to answer this.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Full governing body minutes should have a public copy available on request. We had a folder labelled as such in the School office.

We publish ours on the school site.

Should be available to view either via school website or on demand. The agenda should always include “determination of confidentiality of business” towards the end so items can be excluded from the public minutes on the grounds of confidentiality, e.g. staff resignations tendered before becoming public knowledge. These should be minutes separately.

As has been said by others the minutes of a maintained schools Governing Body and any sub committees should be available for the general public on request, with the exception of confidential minutes, ie the Pay Committee or any minutes regarding redundancies etc where specific names are mentioned.
Whether this is the case with Academies, where you have both GB and Board of Trustees I don't know, never having sat on one.

Non-confidential reports and papers must also be made available if requested.

see paragraph 13 of attached regulations if you need to provide someone with proof!

The Freedom of Information Act is a more helpful law to quote than these regulations though.

As an Academy GB and a Board of Trustees unless the minutes are confidential they are also public.
