According to the Telegraph, a Russian money laundering investigation was ordered to stop, says the former head of Britain's corruption unit.
The former senior police officer in charge of investigating corruption has revealed that he was ordered to halt an inquiry into Russian money laundering. Jon Benton, who headed up the National Crime Agency’s international corruption unit, said a more senior official linked to the Foreign Office told him to drop his inquiry.

It seems that money laundering is big business in this country, presumably it's very lucrative for the cleaners too, maybe it will trickle down just like "they" promise us?

Probably one of the bosses was selling his house to a Russian?

We believe its wrong, yet we are not aware of the cicumstances ,except some high up official told them to stop investigating.
The reasons for the stop may be many and in the games of politics there may be other issues.
For us reading the headlines it just seems wrong.Yet its not only the Russians I beleive.Huge amounts of drug money are also laundered in the UK .There was an intereting article yesterday on Radio 4 for in which the extent of crooks able to open bank accounts without providing basic evidence required, due to the banks push to get more accounts.Plus the rise of people allowing crooks to use thier accounts to launder money from crimes and the failure of banks to stop this.
Crime pays, and who knows who it is paying.

Probabaly why Putin is after them if he can....might need a bolt hole for all the monsy he is supposed to earn 'on the side'.Something we shall never know.
I have often wonder where all these corrupt leaders featherig their own nest store all their cash and then ge to live happily spending it while folks in their countries suffer.
