Government floor targets

Discussion in 'Assessment' started by Nevetz, Mar 14, 2012.

  1. Hi
A school will be below GCSE floor standard (11/12) if:
    • less than 40% of pupils at the end of Key Stage 4 (KS4) achieving 5 or more GCSEs A*-C (or equivalents) including English and maths GCSE*; and
    • below average (national median) % of pupils at the end of KS4 making expected progress in English; and
    • below average (national median) % of pupils at the end of KS4 making expected progress in maths
So, changes from 10/11 are in the increase to 40% (http://www.education.gov.uk/inthenews/inthenews/a00202531/secperftables12) and the unknown national median for progress in English and in maths (which won't be published until the performance tables go live in Jan 2013).
So if you're below 40% for 2012, you'd need to look at the 2011 national medians as a guide in the first instance (English = 74% (+2% from 2010 / Maths = 66% (+1% from 2010)) but schools won't know for definite until the medians are made public.
    Hope this helps
