I wish I'd taken a video of my three eldest children, about 15 years ago, when they gave a "performance" to the family of Forets Paisibles from Les Indes Galantes (Rameau). They didn't know the actual words but it was delivered with absolute conviction. Now that they're 23,22 and 20 I'm sure they'd be very embarrassed that my, then, obsession with Rameau rubbed off on them in that way.
What happened, does his music no longer appeal?
Oh no, I absolutely ADORE his work, I was just very, very obsessed with it back then - it's the level of obsession that changed. I've spent the intervening 15 years being completely obsessed with Shostakovich and mid-17th century English music. I'm <u>quite</u> obsessed by music in general actually .
