Discussion in 'Design and technology' started by jmssingler, Feb 29, 2012.

1. I am extremely concerned to find out that the
Government is considering removing Design and Technology from the National
Curriculum. I have been a Design and Technology teacher for 10 years and
believe that Design and Technology is key to building the learning ability of
the young people in my care.

The students that we teach have to plan, make
reasoned choices, communicate, problem solve and evaluate. They have to
consider the world outside of their surrounding, be resourceful and work with
each other.

We all need these skills to get on in life,
whether it be applying and keeping a job, organising a holiday or putting food
on the dinner table.

How can Mr. Gove consider removing a subject like
Design and Technology from the National Curriculum when it gives our young
people such a good starting place in life?
