    Conditional in what way?
Presumably it was just the standard This offer is subject to receipt of satisfactory references, CRB and other statutory checks, and a medical questionnaire. Or some such similar wording.

You have had an offer letter. And it would have been useful for you to have officially accepted what they offered, for their records and yours, in case there is ever a query or even a dispute.
They make an offer, you either accept or decline it.
I suggest that you now send it, for the records. It makes their offer a contract, which it is not if you haven't accepted it.

  6. If I've accepted a position verbally at an interview, will I still be waiting for a formal written offer? Or am I just waiting for contracts/start dates etc?

  7. I'm the same. Accepted last week but no sign of an offer letter yet. getting a bit worried.

  8. TheoGriff

    TheoGriff Star commenter

Yes, you should be getting a written offer letter.
Hang on until Saturday, they'll be busy. Then contact them over the weekend in case it has got lost.
    Best wishes

  12. Super info thanks Theo! :) Having just been offered my first teaching post, this is just the kind of guidance I needed.
It would now be good to see a post of what to prepare for your new classroom and what to expect on your first few days with your new class.....Any ideas people?

May I add another pointer, please?
Many schools process their payroll in the first few days of the month, so make sure that they have your bank details in plenty of time, or come October the bank will be unhappy not to recieve September's pay!

  17. TheoGriff

    TheoGriff Star commenter

    Yes indeed!
This should be one of the things that the school asks you for, but be prepared to be pro-active over this, to ensure that you get paid!
    Good luck everyone!

  18. Once again, a guide that breaks it down, simple yet not patronising. So helpful to have this resource for reassurance and guidance nwhen things start to get overwhelming :)
