You'll excuse me for putting it so colourfully but how the **** do people get through to PGCE lecturer positions in universities thinking that gulags were good things?

    Gulags were 'compassionate', 'educational' institutions

'Students at a leading London university have been condemned as blind to reality after defending the system of Soviet Gulag labour camps where thousands perished as “compassionate” places of rehabilitation.

Trans rights campaigners at Goldsmiths University described the Gulags as benign places where inmates received education, training and enjoyed the opportunity to take part in clubs, sports and theatre groups.

In fact most historians agree they were a brutal network of labour camps used by Stalin’s Soviet dictatorship to incarcerate internal opponents and so-called "enemies of the state", resulting in the death of more than an estimated 1.05 million people.
    '
    Telegraph.co.uk, 11th September 2018.

These claims were made following threats from a Goldsmiths society to a special needs teacher including a wish that she be sent to a gulag. Her crime? Complaining about a Goldsmiths PGCE lecturer's campaign to purge from their jobs anyone who disagreed with her views.

There are people, here in 21st Century Britain, training our children's teachers who believe and will publicly declare that anyone who disagrees with them should be sent to gulags.

These fascists should not be allowed anywhere near children.

Let's link it: The Gulag Archipelago by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn:

It is unthinkable that a British university would defend gulags, yet here it is. Goldsmiths must purge itself of these poisonous people immediately.

    Ah missed this...

Quite shocking really... if someone wrote defending Concentration Camps of the Nazi regime they'd be run out of the University straight away.... yet this, a system that killed millions... this gets by.

To be honest, the irritating thing is not that some anonymous mo-ron sends provocative tweets, but that a national newspaper with pretensions to journalism thinks it worth publicising and repeating as though it were truly newsworthy.

    Stupidity withers in daylight?

Or... stupidity is amplified by publicity.
