Goldfield area and perimeter problem

    I have a vague recollection of an investigation question for children to find the optimum area of a goldfield for a given perimeter. I've searched Nrich to no avail! Does anyone have a clue what I mean!

    This used to be a common question for GCSE coursework (without the goldfield context).
