Golden Hello - application form help

Discussion in 'New teachers' started by Rachelarmour, Apr 29, 2009.

  1. Hello all! I will complete my induction year in July and *touch wood* I have no reason to think I will fail. I received my Golden Hello application form from my ITT provider and filled in the correct bits and then passed it on to my Headteacher to complete his bit. The problem is, he has ticked "no" to the part where it says "have they finished their induction year?" because obivously at the moment I haven't - what will this do for my application? Please help... I need the cash!!!!!

  3. I think you've been a little premature in the application. You apply after you pass induction, in your 4th term and within 1 year of completing induction. So next term is the time to apply either at your current school if you are staying or your next school. You are paid at the end of the first term of year 2 by the local authority

  4. I applied for my golden hello as soon as I had passed my NQT year. The forms were sent off before we broke up for summer, and I actually received my payment in my august pay packet. All authorities will be different but mine was nice and fast! A lovely surprise for the last few weeks of the summer holiday! xx

You have to be teaching your shortage subject to qualify for the Golden Hello-the form is issued by your university where you completed your PGCE so you have to contact them and ask them to issue a new one.
