Gnomeo and Juliet - What did you make of it?

Discussion in 'Personal' started by 05dan10, Feb 23, 2011.

  1. Hi Guys,
Today I went to see Gnomeo and Juliet in 3D at Cineworld in Sheffield.
It was my OH's idea, as she is an English teacher and has an absolute love for the play Romeo and Juliet!
    Has anybody else seen it?
I wasn't quite sure what to make of it?!
I liked how the characters related well to the actual play of Romeo and Juliet though.
    What did you guys think?

  3. Have not been

    Not intending to

I know it is a kid's film but you cannot change the end of a Shakespeare play !

  4. I love kids films. I didn't like this film at all.

    It was brilliant!

  8. I really wanted to go and see that! Even my Grandma went and she said it was really good!

  9. Im not too fussed about going to see it.
Despicable Me however I thought was BRILLIANT. I laughed out loud in many places, and I dont usually when watching films.

  10. I wasn't too keen on the film really to be honest!
The cinema was rammed and I saw quite a few students from school! [IMG]

  11. Despicable me is fab [IMG]. Have watched it twice since buying it on Monday.

  12. My sister bought the DVD and said it was ****!
I will have to watch it myself and find out!

  13. Well your sister is just daft! [IMG]

  14. I must admit it did look quite good on the advert.
That's it, I'm going ask her to borrow it and find out for myself!

I went to see Gnomeo and Juliet, because Cariadlet and Mr C both thought it looked funny from the trailers. There were a few reasonably funny scenes, and I quite liked looking out for Romeo and Juliet and other Shakespeare references (some are very obvious, but they also sneak a few subtle ones in), but I was pretty bored for much of the film.
If anybody's looking out for a half-term children's film, I'd recommend going to see Tangled. We all really enjoyed that one - much better than Gnomeo and Juliet.

  18. I've got my nephew and neice tomorrow, I may consider taking them to see Tangled then! [IMG]

  19. My little girls and I enjoyed Tangled. I'm being nagged at to take them to Gnomeo and Juliet so will probably take them later. Can't say I'm overly excited at the prospect!
