Click on an advert or three whenever you visit. Who knows, behind them you might find products & services you can use.

    Merry Christmas, everyone.

Unfortunately, because I am one of those who live in a rural area and am restricted on finances, my internet connection is remarkably slow at the best of times. For that reason I run an ad-blocker on all sites otherwise pages take forever to load.
I did white-list TES for a while but it became untenable to do so so I have reluctantly restored full blocking. :(

You are a wag, Rac, but Christmas is a time for charity, for giving out of the goodness of your heart so click a few fracking adverts.

Even at my most generous I'm not sure I would click on adverts for fracking
    :D

Given the T&Cs I don't think I could possibly comment Rac

The highway might be the best way. Buttons clicked; I'm a sucker for an uplifting Christmas story.

    An unsurprising number for dog-whistles.

My ad blocker is currently keeping no less than 15 adverts out of sight now, and has shown over a million the door since installation. I'm happy to keep it that way.

    I ♡ adblockers!

So, does Tes get money each time we click on an ad?

I don't use ad-blockers. The sites I use invest a great deal of effort & money in producing content & contexts I enjoy e.g. TES, and if my attention is caught occasionally by an advert which helps these sites continue to produce that content & context then that's not a lot in the grand scheme of things. Clicking an ad now & then is a kind of patronage and, as I said, there might be some useful product or service behind it.

I'm quite ruthless in my browsing. If I find that a site is full of ads, clickbait, sponsored articles and pop-ups then I won't visit it a second time.

Potentially. It can depend on the provider.

I see. But then I'll be inundated with all sorts of stuff...

No more than now but the difference is that this is more likely to be stuff that you find interesting, stuff that is relevant to you.

It's all very well if you're on a hefty desktop or powerful lappy, but if I have to wait for my phone to load an ad, I'd never post or read anything.

And I've never, that's NEVER, been tempted to click on any ad that's ever presented itself to me online, much less bought something.

Route 66, that's the highway that's the best.

Apparently you can get your kicks there, so long as you like denim.
