Getting MSWMM 2010 files to work in XP.

Discussion in 'Computing and ICT' started by A_Teacher_Of_Computing, Apr 4, 2011.

  1. Its the age old problem, the students have went home and completed their movie maker projects only to discover that they cannot open them in the movie maker provided by Win XP on the school computers.

Is there any way to convert the movie into the old format of make the old MM forwards compatible (in the way word 2003 can be patched to read docx)

Im sure someone here will have the solution... which does not involve getting a class worth of laptops for the students to use.

  2. No. The newest MM only runs on Vista upwards. Like IE9, this is an entirely arbitrary decision by Microsoft, it probably runs fine.
I would probably try and use an open source video editor that doesn't get used to sell the latest pretty decorations on the same core O/S.

Can they not export them as wma at home and use that file, along with screen shots also done at home.
