Getting back to FE teaching

Discussion in 'Career clinic' started by nickthomaslearning, Feb 3, 2017.

  1. hello everyone,

I was hoping you could give me some advice. I completed my PGCE in Further Education in 2008, specialising in Film and Media Studies.

After completion I went into work based learning, i.e. Management skills training etc so haven't been in the classroom since.

I really want to get back into FE teaching film yet I have no idea where to start. I'm just worried I've left it too long and that any jobs that could come up may be taken up by newer PGCE students.

Anyone been in a similar predicament? I was thinking a start would be to get some more classroom experience through shadowing. I am revising the syllabus etc to get a feel for that has changed.

    Grateful for your thoughts

    Nick

Both courses of action do you credit and you must make much of them on your application.

Take the plunge and start applying. In the current job market you need be paid no more than a recently qualified candidate. They can offer you whatever they can get away with. So just do it!!!
