    Hi all,

I was wondering what the status of French, German and Spanish is in your respective schools. As far as I've heard, the general consensus is that German is being phased out, French is in steady decline but Spanish is on a steady increase.

Do you find this to be the case?

From my experience, as a German specialist, I would say that is the case in many schools.

We phased out German in favour of Chinese about a decade ago. French is still core, but the enthusiasm from children and parents alike is waning. Spanish uptake has remained consistent throughout - very very popular at KS3, but a handful at KS4 - probably because they already have to do French.
