Apparently one of these bizarrely-named events has led to a bush-fire in Queensland.

God forbid that such an unnecessary and squim-inducing practice should spread to the UK.

Hallmark will like it, no doubt.

On reflection, isn't it a bit off to assign gender before birth? I mean, how does it come across to the trans community?

Not as 'off' as for someone to reply to their own post (twice) before anyone else has a change to reply.

So I'm an insomniac. Big deal.

Sorry, that sounds rude. But I really am an insomniac, and I assumed....

    Oh, what the heck

A grumpy insomniac, by the sounds of it. ;)

Unlike you who are also awake and confine yourself to sparky remarks to other people's posts.

Yeah, because it's GMT all around the world - right?

I was a little 'snarky' as I initially thought this was another 'trans' thread. Sorry!

I suspect the response would be:

    Sex is assigned at birth.
Gender is a reflection of you as you grow and develop... it is fluid in nature and changes.

But I'm probably 5 years behind the curve so...

All children should be non-binary until they are 18, at which point they should be able to choose the gender they want.

'Tucking it' for 18 years would be a challenge.

Going back to the original post, I've heard of gender reveal parties but they usually seem to involve cutting into a cake which is either pink or blue inside (yuk). I don't know how it could involve setting fire to anything.

Apparently a firework stunt went badly wrong.

Fireworks and those awful Chinese lanterns are a whole other story. The damage they do to trees, crops and livestock is dreadful.

My argument with the whole "gender" thing is the way the word "gender" has been hijacked.

It relates to grammar no sexuality.

When I read the thread title, I thought that denizens of this forum were being invited to *ahem* share...
