I have 4 female singers wanting to do vocal piece for their GCSE ensemble. Does anyone have any ideas for pieces that may come under the Edexcels standard - more difficult marking criteria?? I am new to the game and not quite sure what to give them!

    Many thanks

I would teach them a really good duet, and then just do it twice! I have done in the past, lots of Glee arrangements as they tend to include harmony for a good portion of the song. E.g. River deep mountain high, defying gravity, etc. I have also done any SA arrangements of songs from choirs. Be careful with music theatre as things like 'for good' from wicked has too much solo singing to be marked as more difficult and a true ensemble. I did the two songs I mentioned above, and river deep was definitely more difficult. I sang Mercedes' part and it was hard! Vocal improv etc.
