GCSE Edexcel grade boundaries

Discussion in 'Drama and performing arts' started by rentonave, Mar 12, 2011.

  1. Hi all
Just done my grade boundary conversion from the Unit Results Marks at the back of the spec
and they do seem to be lower to get an A or A* than they were last year.
Last year we basically felt we had to get 39/40 at Unit 1 and 2 to get an A* but this year it seems more like 54/60.
Just wondered if anyone else thought this or knew more info about grade boundaries
    thanks as usual
  2. That may be true; however, you need to remember that the grade boundaries are not actually finalised until after moderators have moderated Units 1 and 2 and examiners have done their examining. I think this is the case for all exams. You also need to remember that the criteria for Band 1 are more demanding than they were with the previous Spec; so, perhaps the Board are not expecting students to score as highly, so grade boundaries will be in a different place compared to old Spec.

  4. Treat EVERYTHING with caution. Until the work is examined and moderated and Edexcel have had their Awarding Meeting, the grade boundaries are NOT fixed. DO NOT think that they are and DO NOT place great faith in them.
