How about a trip to somewhere worthwhile food is grown or made? A small cheese maker, an organic farm, a free-range meat or poultry farm, a micro brewery? These will all be companies with a passionate interest in what they are doing and probably be keen to pass the message on.

  5. I'm planning to take a group to the Good Food Show at the Birmingham NEC. They have a day just for school parties.

Why not see if a big hotel in your area could take a group in the kitchens for a day?
Do you live near an airport, you could try a flight catering company, or a food manufacturer, even a local bread factory or dairy, what about a farm visit.
