Fun and Free Day Out in South Hants!

Discussion in 'Personal' started by Kinsa, Jun 15, 2012.

  1. Hearing Dogs for Deaf People are presenting a Barking Bonanza on Sunday July 15th at Manor Farm Country Park, Bursledon in aid of the charity. Entrance is free and lots of unusual activities for dogs are planned, plus arena displays. Great afternoon out for the family with or without dogs. And a chance to meet me!! (And Buffy) Please PM me for further details. Hope this isn't breeching terms and conditions 'cos I hate getting told off!
  2. Would love to come, Kinsa, but not allowed any time off in July. :-(
Sounds like a great day out, though! Will be doing a little sun dance for you all.

    We'll be along, Kinsa.
We go to Manor Farm Country Park regularly.

Where is Bursledon? I'll bring Skitty Bunnymuncher along! (Tansy has been christened that due to her attempts to keep the rabbit population down on Seaford Head!)

It's on the outskirts of Southampton.

That's the one. It's truly excellent. It's 10 minutes walk from my school, so lunchtime browsing is a regular event.
*ducks as a jealous Cosmos throws something*
  7. And just hope she doesn't choose one of their large jars of minced garlic or ginger paste!
  8. Ha ha! [IMG]
There is a chance that Middle Cosmos might be leaving Southampton - I shall have to have another trip to Portswood if that's the case - I'll buy one of those old lady trolleys on wheels to cart all my swag home on the train!
  9. Sounds great! Will email you this w/e. :)
Roxy will provide lots of licks & cuddles to help ease post-Buffy blues. [IMG]
  10. Thanks for email - will reply some time soon! (Meanwhile unashamedly bumping post!)
  11. Just remembered that one of my friends (+ husband & 3 kids) lives in Pompey. Will bob her a message and ask her to spread the word!

  12. Thanks - it really looks a different sort of event.eg Can your dog 'Paint by Numbers'/ play noughts and crosses? Try agility. Watch HD display team, gun dogs and agility display. We've been out today fly posting in local dog walks.
  13. Am unashamedly upping this in case doggy people in South Hants haven't seen it.
  14. I wish I could go!!
  15. I wish you could too, but it's a bit far from your neck of the woods to South Hampshire. Thank you for working out how to post the poster!
  16. No probs, Kinsa.
I'm the least technical person I know, so I've rather amazed myself!
p.s. TES - hope this is okay. :)

As I've said, it's D's birthday that day so I have a plan...
Park the car in Hamble, go for coffee, take the river taxi over to Warsash, walk up the lovely Hamble Valley, go for lunch here:
Where the food is decent, the beer is even better and the views are better still.
Then walk the 10 minutes or so to Manor Farm!

  18. Know it well. I went there originally in early 1970s and it was good then! (Before you were born, probably) What a lovely birthday for D. Let's hope for a fine day. As I have said, I'll be in a maroon Hearing Dog t-shirt with a glossy black lab - how will I recognise you?

    Yep [IMG]
Me: Tallish, specs, dark hair, beard.
Wife: Tallish, specs, dark hair, no beard.
Daughter: Either pushchair or baby-carrier confined, highly vocal, loves to shout at dogs. Also not bearded.
Unable to confirm clothing as yet.

  20. AE, thanks for your good wishes. That dog is a little stunner - might be a cockerpoo, I'll try to find out. It's got a working jacket on, so must be at least 14 months old. Can you imagine what it was like when it was a tiny puppy? All the HD puppies are gorgeous. My avatar is Buffy when she was about 8 weeks old. She's 8 months now and a bit of a whopper, but glossy and fit as a butcher's dog. When I am between dogs, I go to the puppy classes for the youngest pups on the pretext of keeping my hand in, but really to cuddle the seriously cute babies! A miniature poodle in our socialising group will be having 4 pups in 2 weeks' time - none of us can wait!
