foundation stage- capitals or not in mid sentence

Discussion in 'Jobseekers' started by natalia2008, Jan 20, 2011.

  1. I am writing a covering letter, I am writing foundation stage mid sentence, would it have capitals.
    'foundation stage' or 'Foundation Stage'.
i thought so, cause its a name of a year group, my friend says - it's a noun but not a proper noun, so no.

    Capitals or not? thankyou!

I do think this is a 'proper noun' as it's the name of a particular stage in the curriculum & therefore needs capitals Foundation Stage, though you might get away with 'Foundation stage' as it's the 'Foundation' part that turns it into a proper noun but then it would be being used as an adjective to describe stage & wouldn't then need a capital.(Oh, too much thinking about it just clouds the issue!)
If it were me, I'd stick to the use of capitals, but no doubt there will be others who will say otherwise.
