Teacher training courses have been a rage in the education sector for quite a long period. A number of training institutes, both government and private have been set-up in order to train aspiring teachers. It is important to know, and understand why teacher training is the need of the hour and how it influences the education sector. The various courses for teachers provide an insight into teaching methodology and teaching approaches. However, there are several other aspects that are involved in the courses that are taught.

    What to Teach
As a teacher, one is expert in his/her subject and therefore, pursues a career in teaching the same. However, it is important to know what to teach and what not to teach. It is important for a teacher to understand the grasping capabilities of the students and also the level of their learning and impart knowledge about a specific subject accordingly. Dumping the students with too much information than required can lead to learning problems. Thus, conveying the right information and facts is important.

    Understanding Student Psychology
Teachers spend majority of their time on students, including course designing, teaching, mentoring, etc. It is therefore necessary to be in a position to understand the difficulties that students face in the learning process and be able to solve them. Understanding student psychology also helps in applying the right teaching techniques in the class to make sure everyone learns at the same time.

    Classroom Management
A classroom is where the teachers’ main job is and thus it is necessary for one to be able to manage the classroom. A classroom is a diversified space that accommodates students of all sorts from the pranksters to the disinterested hostile ones; it is a teacher’s job to engage all of them in the classroom activities.

Time Management: Time management is an important skill that is required for teachers. It is important because a particular course curriculum has to be taught within a stipulated time, therefore, time has to be managed accordingly to ensure timely completion of the structured curriculum.

How to Teach: Teaching techniques vary from classroom to classroom depending on the kind of students one has to teach. Aspiring teachers are taught various approaches to teaching in various classroom setups in order to give them the right understanding of the nuances of teaching and how various methodologies are to be applied in different situations.
