FE teaching via secondary PGCE route?

I am hoping to get into FE teaching Art and Design. However there are no FE specific courses within a reasonable commuting distance from where I live. There are lots of Secondary PGCE courses and I wondered if I were to go down this route, would I be able to do my work placements in a sixth form? So that I am still working with the age group I would like to? Or would there even be the option to work on a BTEC course in an FE college as the age group are sixth form? Or would I be expected to work a placement, in a school setting, that involves all age groups in order to complete the qualification? The same question for the QTS year, would I have a choice of, which age group I teach to gain QTS?
