Facing an interview at an Independent School

Discussion in 'Independent' started by nglfranklin, May 16, 2011.

  1. Hi,
I have an interview for the role of ICT teacher for KS5 imminently and was wondering if anyone could offer some advice about how to impress the interview panels.

Well done on getting that interview!
General advice on interviews can be
found on the JobSeekers Forum. Try the Welcome thread - there are some
clickables inside with advice about preparing and sample questions.
You can also do a search here on the indy forum - put Interview into the search box.

    Best wishes

    I
do Application and Interview one-to-ones, and also contribute to the
Job Application Workshops. We look at application letters, executive
summaries and interviews, with practical exercises that people really
    appreciate.

The next Job Seminars are all sold out, I'm afraid, although Julia is thinking of organising some more.

A new SLT seminar is available now on 22 May www.tesweekendworkshop32.eventbrite.com, and another is planned for 18 June.

E-mail Julia on advice@tsleducation.com for how to book a meeting with me personally.

    Look forward to seeing you!

  3. Dear Theo,
I had my KS5 ICT interview at the independent school today. The interview went okay. At the end of the 40 minute lesson the students clapped me! I've never had that at an interview/lesson observation scenario. Is this something that is done in Independent schools as a mark of polite appreciation?
Anyway, I still don't know who got the job - there were 2 other candidates today. There could have been more during the course of the day or will be over the next few days. All they said is that they will 'be in touch'. So the long wait has begun........
