EYFS experience before SLT ?

Advice needed on whether I should move from Y6 to EYFS?

I have been teaching 12 years. I'm a mum to 2 small children so I work part time at the moment and for the next few years. I do have a tlr as maths leader.

I really would like to move into SLT but, as I work PT, that's on hold at the moment. So, I'm wondering what steps I can take whilst my kids are little to further my career.

I've done the NPQML. Now I'm wondering what to do next? I'm considering an MA as I loved the research bits of NPQML. I'm also wondering if it would be worth moving into EYFS? I've taught across KS1&2 but never nursery or reception. Would EYFS experience stand me in a better position to become SLT - I'm thinking assistant or deputy head...someday?

A broad experience is always useful, although you do need to be very secure in your Yr 6 experience as well. SLT positions do tend to go towards Yr 5/6 experience.

    Best wishes

Thank you. There is also the option that I could do ppa cover across the whole school in each year group from nursery to y6. Would this be a good career move? It's tricky trying to further your career whilst working part time!
