You don't have togo. You do not need to create any fabricated reason.
Send them a nice card, wishing them all the best with the performance, and saying how sorry you'll be to miss it - you look forward to hearing all about it/seeing the photos/whatever.
People will understand that your baby comes first, and that their feeding/sleeping pattern may mean there's no way you can go.
