Expected pay rate for Australian Teacher wanting to teach in UK

Discussion in 'Overseas trained teachers' started by sjnash16, Jan 21, 2011.

  1. I wish to teach in the UK for a year. I have over 25 years experience in teaching and have been in a Head of Curriculum role in the last few years. I hold an Australian Degree in Education. What pay rate/scale should I expect or request?

  3. If you are employed as through a school they may pay you as an unqualified teacher which is next to nothing. I think about 14 grand depending on where you are. If you are employed through an agency between 125 and 150 punds a day.

If you get a position offered to you, you could ask for up to £27th, probably likely to start at about 24 though.

  5. In the UK Is there a good reason to hire an overseas teacher other than being cheaper?
