I have a year one class, and no money. Does anyone have any ideas for getting free stuff to enrich the children s learning and environment.?
I have a few ideas but anymore or websites etc would be great thanks

  2. I would ask parent helpers to come in and "make a display about..." or make things at home, particularly with KS 1 parents, they are always keen to lend a hand. You could also ask older children in school to make resources that they think would help younger children (guide them, obviously). That way, the whole school ethos is promenant and your work is done for you!

What kind of things? Displays or furniture? Toys or numberlines?

Isn't there money from your school? Buy it and claim it in petty cash. Why should you pay to enhance?

Parents further up the school might have old dressing up which is always great for year 1 and lots of bookshops will give you free posters for your book corner if you tell them you are a teacher when you ask.

If you want actual physical 'stuff' try freegle or freecycle (there are other local giveaway sites) or see if your school is a member of a scrapstore.

Thanks for the replies. We used to be able to use petty cash, but there really is nothing spare. I will try free cycle etc, also found a couple of websites who give away seeds etc. I have registered to grow potatoes with gyo again. This is great lots of resources, you just need to buy the compost.
Only second time I have posted but first time I have had replies thank you.
